Classification of switchgears

Published Time:

2025-05-28

The main function of the switchgear is to switch, control, and protect electrical equipment during the process of power generation, transmission, distribution, and energy conversion in the power system.

Classification by voltage level

Classification by voltage level usually refers to AC 1000V and below as low-voltage switchgear (such as PGL, GGD, GCK, GBD, MNS, etc.), and above AC 1000V as high-voltage switchgear (such as GG-1A, XGN15, KYN48, etc.). Sometimes, high-voltage cabinets with a voltage of AC 10kV are also called medium-voltage cabinets (such as the XGN15 type 10kV ring network cabinet).

Classification by voltage waveform

Divided into: AC switchgear, DC switchgear

Classification by internal structure

Draw-out switchgear (such as GCS, GCK, MNS, etc.), fixed switchgear (such as GGD, etc.)

Classification by use

Incoming line cabinet, outgoing line cabinet, metering cabinet, compensation cabinet (capacitor cabinet), corner cabinet, busbar cabinet
